Biography

Angela Steel graduated in painting from Edinburgh College of Art in 1994.  She spent much of the subsequent years travelling haphazardly and worked a myriad of jobs in far flung corners of the world before coming back to art full time in 2000. It was in 2001 when she began working with glass and she has been a member of the Architectural Glass Artists studio since 2002.

She exhibits her fine art glass widely in selected and group exhibitions, as well as solo exhibitions. The techniques used vary little from those of medieval times, using handmade glass and etched flashed glass and vitreous enamels to create what are essentially paintings with light.  Angela Steel also teaches glass workshops from her studio in Glasgow, as well as life drawing workshops, and as a regular arts tutor for North Ayrshire, has led a variety of projects since 2001.

Angela Steel works to commission, and her stained glass is sought after for private collections and public buildings.
